The Race: My annual "Run for the Arts" 10K in Barrington, IL
Mission #1: To vindicate myself from last year's disastrous side cramp at Mile 5 (and yep, mission accomplished)
Mission #2: Save enough energy for the Flexibility Coach photo shoot that followed (which ended up lasting 2 days....netting over 10,000 stretching and exercise photos!)

|
Well what's not to smile about? Perfect weather, a long holiday weekend.....and I haven't yet run 6.2 miles! |
A warm-up jog: "Maybe I should have had more than 3 sips of coffee." |
.....and suddenly, it's the final stretch -- and WOO HOO, this time around, no side cramp! |
Me, and the two runners with whom I paced for most of the race (the lady in the hat and I ended up with the exact same finishing time). |
|
Ouch! This guy ended up carrying his shoes. A bad blister, maybe? |
The man in the orange shirt and I kept "swapping" the lead up and down hills: going uphill he led, coming downhill, I led. And if you look at the next photo.... |
....yep, in that final stretch (a hill) to the finish line, true to our pattern, he pulled ahead of me! |
Ahhhhh.... A blissful post-race stretch (at least, that's what I told my left hip flexor, to get it to stop screaming at me!) |
|
Now, onto the REAL race: Taking 10,000 photos for The Flexibility Coach online program! |
One of the photos from our post-10K photo session, taken about 8 hours after the race |
Another photo from that same post-race photo shoot! |
